Flexibility Meets Growth: Supporting Teammates in Any Work Environment
Achieve's culture is built upon our teammates' ability to thrive. Whether working from the comfort of their home beside their furry coworkers or at the office collaborating with others, we're committed to offering the flexibility and support needed to do their best work.
We understand that everyone works differently. For some, the buzz of an office might be what they need to grow and succeed in their careers. For others, the quiet and comfort of their home allows them to focus on their tasks efficiently without the stress of a commute or distraction.
To better understand what our teammates enjoy about both work environments, we spoke to two Achieve Personal Loan Consultants to get a glimpse of their day-to-day routines. One works remotely, and the other in the office on a hybrid schedule, but they both share the same passion for helping our members move forward for a better financial future. Both of these teammates demonstrate the flexibility, growth, and empowerment that Achieve offers to help everyone perform at their best, no matter the location.
Tina V., Work from home
Tina has been with Achieve for three years. Her typical work-from-home day always starts with a walk with her dog and listening to music or podcasts. The work day is kicked off by motivating her team through various Slack channels, including Girl Talk—a group created by women at Achieve. By the time she begins work, she's already established positive energy for the day.
Her morning work includes checking the previous day's stats, setting personal goals, and reviewing upcoming meetings. She pulls reports, calls clients, and continually adjusts her strategy to meet daily goals. Tina focuses on staying productive while ensuring no opportunity is missed—whether completing all outbound calls or taking care of household chores during breaks.
Advantages of working from home
For Tina, working from home allows her to focus on her well-being with no commute and the ability to create her own workspace. "Achieve gives us the freedom to write our own paychecks in sales, which allows me to help my family," she shares. The added bonus of taking care of her house-flipping business during lunch breaks and walking their dog during downtime adds to her love of remote work.
Challenges of working from home
Just because work is at home doesn't make it easy—it's still work at the end of the day. Tina admits that she would like more time to interact with her peers and learn new processes, but using tools like Zoom, virtual resources, all-hands with leaders, team meetings, and weekly one-on-ones help a lot. She mentioned that she sometimes wishes to participate in the "in-office" events. However, since no local office is nearby her in Texas, she takes advantage of the virtual, remote-based events and volunteer opportunities Achieve offers to fully remote teammates to feel connected.
Work-life balance
"I'm a workaholic, so shutting off is hard for me." Stepping away from work when it's in the home is tough. Tina explains that writing her goals down, remembering why, and asking for help when she needs it keeps her focused. On the hard days, exercise, podcasts, and connecting with family keep her feeling refreshed and motivated. "I keep myself focused by setting daily goals with how many appointments I want during the day, how many calls to make, and I ask myself every day if I'm doing everything I can today to be where I want to be tomorrow." Tina shares.
Recently, Tina was able to fly her sister to Texas and take her to dinner, shopping, and a spa day.
"Without Achieve, I wouldn't be able to be with my family as much as I am. Achieve allows me to fulfill dreams."
Tips for new remote workers:
Always remember your "why"
Write down your goals daily
Stay connected with positive people
Be a self-motivator and overcome distractions
Have fun
Marci M., Hybrid
Marci M. has been with Achieve since 2022. As a hybrid employee, she opts to work from the office for two weeks in the month. This allows her to have the best of both worlds between the ease of work from home and the camaraderie of the office. Marci loves supporting her colleagues and mentoring new teammates in person. When she works in the office, her day typically starts by grabbing a coffee from our on-site cafe and preparing for the hustle of the day. "The office's energy helps set the pace for a productive day." She notes.
"Coming into the office helps break up my routine and prevents burnout. It keeps me grounded and motivated."
Advantages of working from the office
Building relationships with my peers, especially new hires and management, is a key benefit of Marci's in-office work. "You can really see and feel the heart and soul of Achieve when building those relationships," she shared. Collaboration comes naturally in the office through face-to-face interactions. "I love being able to walk over and ask for help or give someone a hand," Marci shared. From roundtable discussions to open, casual conversations, everyone sees the value in learning from and contributing to the team. In-person collaboration offers teammates a wealth of opportunities for career growth. Everyone is available and willing to help, from fellow teammates to senior leadership. "I love all the career development and personal development opportunities available. It's amazing to see leadership invested in me and my growth," Marci notes.
Challenges of working from the office
While working from the office had many perks for Marci, she could only note one challenge—the commute! That's what makes hybrid work so special. Teammates are not required to come into the office every day and are able to flex their schedules to what works best for them during those two weeks. There's no pressure to have a lengthy commute five days a week, but the benefits of in-person connections are worth the drive for many during hybrid weeks.
Tips for in-office work
"Ear hustle your peers—you may pick up little nuggets to cultivate your personal brand. Build relationships across the board, get involved, and participate in roundtables. That's when you'll truly grow and feel the heart of this company."
No matter where our teammates choose to work, they're supported every step of the way and encouraged to build a fulfilling career that impacts millions of everyday people. If you want to be part of a company that champions your unique work style and empowers you to do your best work, we invite you to explore our career opportunities below.
