Job Description

As a Sr. Site Reliability Engineer, you’ll impact the lives of everyday people and help them go from surviving to thriving with innovative digital personal finance solutions. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our organization by ensuring the availability, scalability, and reliability of our systems and infrastructure. Your main focus will be on utilizing Datadog for monitoring and optimization, while also collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance system performance through automation and infrastructure improvements. To excel in this role you will have expertise in APM tools (preferably Datadog), strong programming and scripting skills, proficiency in cloud platforms and containerization technologies, as well as excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities. Preferred qualifications include certifications in Datadog, experience with infrastructure-as-code tools, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and related tools.

This is a remote position from within the United States only. No contract/1099/C2C.

Qualifications

What you’ll do:  

  • Utilize your expertise in any APM tools (Datadog preferred) to develop and maintain an effective monitoring and observability framework for our systems and applications.
  • Design and implement custom dashboards, alerts, and anomaly detection mechanisms to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and other issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, operations, and DevOps, to enhance system reliability and performance through automation and infrastructure improvements.
  • Continuously analyze system metrics, logs, and other relevant data to identify areas for optimization, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and post-mortem activities to ensure timely resolution of incidents and the implementation of preventative measures.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies related to site reliability engineering, monitoring, and observability tools.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior members of the SRE team, fostering their growth and helping them develop their skills.

What you’ll bring: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, with a focus on building and maintaining highly available and scalable systems.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with APM (Datadog preferred), including creating custom dashboards, configuring alerts, and utilizing Datadog's APM and log management capabilities.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar) 
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, distributed systems, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Experience with incident management, incident response, and on-call rotations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and familiarity with tools such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI.

We are proudly offering hybrid options in the Phoenix, AZ metro market as well in San Mateo, CA. In other locations throughout the country we offer work from home in the following states: 

Salary Range: $115,000 to $135,000 annually + bonus + benefits. This information represents the expected salary range for this role. Should we decide to make an offer for employment, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
